Nine Magpie Ducks walking down Tallman Street.
The Magpie Duck Story
We have been doing neighborhood walks for years here in Richmond, Maine, and feeding raw peanuts to the various wildlife critters that we encounter. The black and white Magpie Ducks are domestic fowl but free-range. They are always excited when they spy Charlie approaching their lane. This fall Charlie composed a song in tribute to them, to the tune of an old sailor song, "Oh You New York Girls, Can’t You Dance the Polka." Click the following link to see the lyrics of Charlie's "Magpie Duck Polka" and click on the MP3 button if you'd like to hear him sing it.
